The Extended Day students participated in Let’s Hear It for Herps, a program from the Lorain County Metro Parks which focuses on reptiles and amphibians. The children learned about a box turtle named Miss Speedy and Woodstock, an American toad. Habitats and identifying characteristics of reptiles and amphibians were taught as well as how to treat them in the wild. The students enjoyed touching the skin of a black snake, identifying the spine and ribs of the green sea turtle, and hearing the different songs of frogs.
