During the month of December the third, fourth and fifth graders of St. Mary School learned about and celebrated the Spanish custom of Las Posadas. The activity crossed many lines of our curriculum including Spanish, music, religion, and art.
The children “traveled” as Mary, Joseph, shepherds and angels from room to room looking for a place to stay while singing a traditional song in Spanish. When the travelers found a room to take them in, they were taught a craft with Spanish origins. Each grade took a turn hosting the craft project. It was a very enjoyable learning experience for the students.
