The fifth graders recently tried out a new program called ScootPad using the SMS iPads to further integrate technology in the classroom. The students are able to complete their weekly reading logs, practice spelling, tackle math and English language arts Common Core Standards, and assess their abilities. The program may be customized to suit each child’s needs.
The students have access to many e-books covering a variety of reading levels and genres. Other features include parental access to their child’s work and online communication between teacher and student, and between students in a controlled environment to address social media skills. For their efforts the students earn coins to play educational games. The kids love it!
