The fifth annual Spark Conference was held on Tuesday, August 9, at Lakewood Catholic Academy. The Spark Conference is a wonderful way to start off the school year by reigniting creativity and innovation in elementary education. Several faculty members from St. Mary School attended this year along with over 300 educators from the Diocese of Cleveland. This year’s guest presenter was the highly motivating David Burgess, author of Teach Like a PIRATE. During the conference Lakewood Catholic Academy recognizes educators who passionately demonstrate a commitment to creativity and innovation. This year Natalie Popelka, St. Mary School fifth grade teacher, was recognized as one such educator. She received a trophy and $500. In addition, St. Mary School also received $500.
Saint Mary School follows the examples of our patroness Mary and her Son Jesus Christ by respecting others, fostering spiritual development, striving for academic excellence, and providing service to our community.
