SMS participated in an all-school STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) activity. The students were put into grade level groups with junior high students as group leaders. Their task was to create an Easter basket with a handle out of newspaper that would hold two eggs (soup cans). Each group could only use newspaper, masking tape, scissors, and – of course – their brains to complete the task.
Once finished the basket had to be held by the handle without breaking for 10 seconds to be successful. All of the materials were recycled and the cans of soup were donated. Each of the twelve groups came up with a different, creative basket. The students enjoyed the activity and couldn’t wait to see if their baskets would pass the test.
